Matthew Kirkland Promises to offer a fascinating insight into what is an increasingly popular area of birdwatching/survey. Matt is a digital product and AI consultant and a keen amateur birdwatcher and 'nocmigger' (listener m/ recorder of nighttime migration). He is also the creator of “Chirpity”, a software platform for bio-acoustic analysis, species identification and records management.
Reviewing nocturnal migration data can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! This talk will cover getting started with NocMig, then focus on an intuitive application called Chirpity that can help you interpret your audio recordings. Learn what to expect when using AI models to analyse audio files, review detections, validate records and save results for further use. Whether you’re new to NocMig or just interested in learning more about current approaches to processing acoustic migration data, you'll see how Chirpity can become a helpful partner when listening to the night sky.

On the north edge of Milton Keynes, this wetland is good for wintering wildfowl such as Wigeon, Teal, and Goosander. There are often Snipe in the margins, loafing gulls, and the surrounding trees and fields often hold birds such as Little Owl, Siskin, Redpoll, Stonechat and Chiffchaff. Hasan has run this event for several years, and it has proved very popular with our members.
