A pair of Garganey were found along the Jubilee River, close to Taplow GP, during the morning. They stayed until the evening but could not be located the following day. There are generally less Spring than Autumn records. For more details click here.

Fulmer Marsh offers ideal habitat for this species, although views could well be fairly distant.
College Lake - 19th and 24th August 2002
The pictures above presumably relate to the same individual as they were taken just a few days apart. This female/juvenile Garganey is in typical late summer plumage. Although Garganeys may be seen at anytime between early Spring and late Autumn, there is a large increase in records in August. For details click here.

The above picture was taken on 10th May 2002. It is probably a different individual to that pictured below, as there are no April 2002 records from the site as far as I know.

Another super male bird taken on 24th March 2002. Unfortunately it was flushed by a low flying hot air balloon at 7:20am and did not return.

Male Garganeys were reported from this site on 31st March, 1st, 2nd, 9th and 11th April with two birds present on 7th. The area favoured was the shallow pools of the flood alleviation scheme that runs close to houses on the NE of Aylesbury. The Garganey is an annual visitor to the county with numbers of records per year usually in the range 4-10. There are no breeding records for the county.
