Bucks Birds Email Group - "BucksBirders"

An Email group has been set up to allow birders in and around Bucks to easily and quickly share items of interest.  Typically this information is of interesting sightings of birds, either county rarities, migrants or more common species behaving in an unusual fashion.  The email group may also be used to share information on conservation issues and concerns, to ask other birders opinions on a particular topic or even just to arrange transportation to a twitch.  Unfortunately there are times when we must ask you not to send an Email to the group and to ensure that everyone is aware of the "rules" of the group the following policy has been drawn up.

This policy contains general guidelines but also more specific information on the publication of information on the following species :-

  • Red Kite
  • Hobby
  • Goshawk
  • Nightjar
  • Long-eared Owl
  • Woodlark
  • Black Redstart
  • Dartford Warbler

Please click on the link below to view the policy.  Please ensure that you do take the time to read this document.

    How the Email Group Works

For those of you not familiar with Email groups, they work on the basis that any Emails sent to the group (in our case BucksBirders@yahoogroups.com ) are automatically distributed to everyone who has subscribed to the list.  You can subscribe and unsubscribe from the list at any time.  The word "subscribe" does not imply any cost to you.  The whole of the service is free and is funded by advertising which is appended to each Email.

To subscribe to the BucksBirders Email group, first of all you need to register your Email address on the Yahoo Groups web site, at  http://groups.yahoo.com/.   If you are not already registered with Yahoo click on the link for "Click here to register" and follow the instructions.   Please ensure that you fill out your YahooGroups members ID with a minimum of your name and the (nearest) town where you live.  If you have a commercial interest in the messages (e.g.  One of the bird reporting services) please indiacte the organisation
in the field called "Occupation".  Once you have signed up with Yahoo you  can then subscribe to the "BucksBirders" group.  This can be done by searching for BucksBirders, opening up the BucksBirders summary screen and then clicking on "subscribe to this group".  If you have any trouble subscribing please contact me at Jim_Rose@Hawfinches.Freeserve.co.uk

Once you have subscribed you can unsubscribe, re-subscribe or go straight to the website where all of the messages are held.  This is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BucksBirders

You can also set your Email options to have messages sent as they arrive, or to be grouped into one daily digest or to have no Email.  In the latter case you would just view the messages through the website.  You can also post messages to the Email group through the website if you don't have access to your Email.

Unsubscribing from the group is done in a similar fashion to subscribing.

If you have any problems or questions relating to the Email group please contact Jim Rose.
