Although photographed in May this adult does not show the full breeding plumage of this species, which is far more chestnut.   This species is an annual visitor to the county with the majority of records in May.  To view a graph of Sanderling records in Buckinghamshire  click here.

This individual was seen on the return lake at Dorney Lake along with two Temminck's Stints.

This individual is resting on a "sausage", the local nickname for the rafts of herbage which are used to reduce blue-green algae.  Rather amusingly a report in the Email group saying that the "Sanderling was feeding on sausages" was repeated by one of the national bird information services!
