INDOOR MEETINGS

FIELD MEETINGS

Meetings are held on Thursdays at 7:45pm except where otherwise indicated.  No admission charge for club members.  Non-members £2-00.

All meetings will be held at… Wendover Memorial Hall, Wharf Road (Leading into Manor Road), Wendover  (SP870082)

Travel to all meetings is by private car unless otherwise stated.  All are welcome.

Meet at reserve car park Grid Ref: TR063196

Seabirds, Migrants  and Waders.

5 miles S of New Romney. 120 miles from High Wycombe.

How to get there: take the Dungeness road from the Lydd roundabout. After 1¼ miles you will see Boulderwall Farm on the right and a gravel track leading to the RSPB reserve. Bring own food. .  RSPB shop and toilets on reserve.

Farmoor

Last of the summer visitors. Ducks and Waders.

5 miles W of Oxford, 30 miles from High Wycombe.

How to get there: the reservoirs are just west of Oxford. From the A40 turn left at a roundabout onto the B4449. At the second roundabout turn left onto the B4044. At Farmoor village turn right onto the B4017 (signposted Abingdon) and the reservoir car park is on the right about 400 yards from the junction. Meet at 09.30. OS sheet 164. Map ref: SU452064.  Toilets in car park.  Thames Water can charge an entrance fee for those without an annual permit.

How to get there: from M27 junction 9 turn right onto A27 (signposted Fareham), at the third roundabout turn right onto B3334 (signposted Gosport). After about 2 miles turn right into Bells Lane (signposted Hillhead). Park at Hill Head Sailing Club car park. Map ref: Meet 09.30. Bring own food.  (Entrance fee payable).  Shop, café and toilets at Reserve office.

How to get there: Take the A489 off the A41 at Aston Clinton heading towards Dunstable. Use the car park under the north-west bank of Wilstone Reservoir, just past the pair of very sharp right and left hand bends at .  No facilities.

How to get there: The visitors' centre is off the road between Wolverton/New Bradwell to the west and Newport Pagnell to the east (Wolverton Road). Turn north off this road at SP849425 almost opposite the Black Horse PH. After about 50 metres turn sharp left and follow the road to the centre. Beware 2 well-concealed road bumps. To facilitate navigation through Milton Keynes, if you are coming from the south get onto V7 Saxon Street which leads straight to the roundabout at the western end of the Wolverton Road, then turn east.

90 miles from High Wycombe

Follow M27 west from Southampton towards Bournemouth.  M27 becomes A31.  Continue along A31 for about 2miles until Stoney Cross.  Just past Little Chef take small left hand turn, signposted Emery Down (take care not to miss this road as ‘turning round’ opportunities are few).  Follow this road SE for about 1.3 miles to cross roads, and take right turn, signposted Acres Down.  Follow track past picnic site, across shallow ford, and straight on past Acres Down farm (on left), ignoring tracks forking left and right.  At barrier, turn left into car park.  No facilities except tearoom at Acres Down farm.
